On Friday July 28, Gateway DC was proud to host Fox5’s weekly summer ZipTrip series with the residents and organizations of Congress Heights. The ZipTrip morning show made five stops throughout the neighborhood, including, Southeast Tennis & Learning Center, Malcolm X Opportunity Center, St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery and Gateway DC, where there was live coverage throughout the morning.
More than 30 Ward 8 partner organizations were in attendance, alongside live entertainment provided by the Garfield Elementary School Marching Band and Cheerleading Squad, as well as the legendary go-go band, Rare Essence. That morning Fox5 also featured local eateries, Georgina’s Restaurant, MLK Deli, and Capital City Creamery.
