Award-Winning Gospel Performers Light Up the Arena
On Saturday, August 10, the Entertainment and Sports Arena hosted Gospel Fest 2019, a spirited concert evening featuring a number of award-winning gospel performers from around the country. Attendees from across the region made their way to Congress Heights to see talented artists including Hezekiah Walker, Tye Tribbett, Jekalyn Carr, and Jarmone Davis. The locally-based Davis warmed-up the crowd before the evening’s first headliner, 25-year-old Grammy-nominated Jekalyn Carr. Carr’s energy, heartfelt messages, and wide-ranging vocals easily brought the crowd to their feet. Two-time Grammy winner Tye Tribbett’s electrifying set blurred the lines between gospel, R&B, and hip-hop. Finally, the powerful voice of headliner Bishop Hezekiah Walker filled the Entertainment and Sports Arena to the rafters, with a large backup vocal section creating a visually exciting and positive vibe that left guests smiling ear to ear.
