On Friday, August 23, Events DC brought the Hammer’s House Party Tour to the District. Embarking on his first major tour since 1991, MC Hammer brought together some of the most recognizable hip-hop and R&B acts from the ’80s and ’90s to one stage — Sir Mix-A-Lot, Kid’N Play, DJ Kool, Tone Loc, and Young MC. This throwback party was a true celebration of old-school hip-hop, with people of all ages coming out to dance and sing along to their favorite jams.
In addition to MC Hammer, Hammer’s House Party included an unforgettable lineup of opening performers and songs including pop-culture gems like Tone Loc’s “Funky Cold Medina and “Wild Thing”, Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” and DJ Kool’s “Let Me Clear My Throat”. Hammer performed as though he did not lose a single step since the 90s, pumping out hits like “2 Legit to Quit”, “Pumps and a Bump” and “U Can’t Touch This” with the same infectious energy he brought decades ago.
