Summer Movie Series

Join us at Gateway Pavilion to enjoy our outdoor summer movie series!

There’s no better time to relax under the stars while enjoying complimentary blockbuster cinemas on the super big screen than at the Events DC’s Summer Movie Series presented by RCN. You’ll find light refreshments (while they last) and family-friendly activities all available at no charge courtesy of our sponsor, Pepsi. You can claim your spot at 6:00 PM and movies begin at dusk. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, snacks, and friends. It doesn’t get much hotter than July, so come chill with us!

Gospel Fest is Coming to the District

August 10 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena

Gospel Fest 2019 is coming to the new Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, DC! Featuring Hezekiah Walker, renowned pastor at Love Fellowship Tabernacle, as well as Tye Tribett, two-time Grammy award winner, Jekalyn Carr, and Jarmone Davis. This line-up represents the very best of gospel music at the newest concert venue in the nation’s capital.

Mystics Update

Mystics Earn Coach of the Month and Player of the Month Honors in June

Washington Mystics Head Coach, Mike Thibault, was recognized as the WNBA Coach of the Month, leading the team to a 9-2 record for games played in June. Thibault has guided the Mystics to the best record in the WNBA after the team returned from a four-game, 11-day road trip undefeated.

In June, the Mystics averaged league bests in points per game (86.8), field goal percentage (45.6%), free throw percentage (87.5%), assists (21.3) and steals (9.75). Against the Mystics, opponents averaged 73.2 points per game, 15.8 assists and 41.6% shots from the field.

Throughout this run, the Mystics forward, Elena Delle Donne, has averaged 17.2 points per game, 8.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 46% from the field and 96% from the free-throw line. Key games included a double-double outing of 29 points and 11 rebounds against the top defensive team, the Las Vegas Aces, followed by 21 points and 10 rebounds performance against the Atlanta Dream. These accomplishments earned Delle Donne Eastern Conference Player of the Month honors.

The Mystics return to the Entertainment and Sports Arena on July 13 at 7:00 PM to face the Western Conference leading Las Vegas Aces.


EA Ligue 1 Games are Coming to Audi Field this July

On July 24, D.C. United will Face Olympique de Marseille in an International Friendly

On July 24, D.C. United will face Olympique de Marseille in a friendly at Audi Field presented by Events DC as a strategic play to continue to showcase international soccer talent in the District. The game will be the closing match of the EA Ligue 1 Games, a four-team preseason tournament between Marseille, AS Saint-Étienne, Montpellier HSC and FC Girondins de Bordeaux that will see doubleheaders on Buzzard Point on July 18 and July 21. Each of the international clubs will be visiting our nation’s capital from July 16 – 22 and two of the clubs will host their training sessions on the RFK Campus. Get your tickets to see these exciting match-ups and top European talent at the home of the Black-and-Red today!


Hammer’s House Party Tour Coming to DC!

U Can’t Touch This, Baby Got Back, Bust A Move…All In One Night

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s HAMMER TIME! We are excited to announce that we are bringing the Hammer’s House Party tour to the Entertainment and Sports Arena. Embarking on his first major tour since 1991, MC Hammer is bringing together some of the most recognizable Hip-Hop and R&B acts from the ’80s and ’90s to one stage — Sir Mix-A-Lot, Kid’N Play, DJ Kool, Tone Loc, and Young MC. Grab your hammer pants and get ready to bust a move! #HammersHouseParty

Community Grant

Applications for FY20 Community Grants Due August 1, 2019

Events DC is now accepting applications for the first of two cycles of its Fiscal Year 2020 Community Grant Program. Applications for Cycle 1 are due no later than August 1, 2019; applicants will be notified of their award status by October 15, 2019. The Cycle 2 application deadline is February 1, 2020; applicants will be notified of their award status by April 15, 2020.

– One-year grant awards total $200,000 for Fiscal Year 2020
– $100,000 is awarded per cycle
– Grant awards range from a minimum single grant of $2,500 up to a maximum single grant of $25,000
– Eligible non-profit organizations must support youth sports, performing arts or cultural arts in the District of Columbia
